How political prominence of the environment changed the way we think about democracy

On November 19th the  Jaarboek Parlementaire Geschiedenis 2019 (yearbook of parliamentary history) was published with ‘Nature, environment, and climate’ as its central theme. Liesbeth van de Grift wrote the introductory chapter ‘Natuur, milieu en het denken over democratie’. In this chapter, she discusses the rise of nature and the environment on the political agenda, and how this changed and challenged the way we think about democracy.
